The 2.0 TDi engine supersedes the early 1.9 unit to take power and refinement to the next level. Using VW?s highly acclaimed PD injection system and the latest EDC16 ECU controllers, the stock outputs on these are impressive even as standard. With 2025 bar injection pressure these engines produce high torque at low loads and enable great gains to be had from tuning. The 138bhp (140PS) variant easily achieves 188bhp with little effort. We develop all of our software on the rolling road to ensure accuracy in terms of both power delivery and also to ensure fuelling, boost pressures and exhaust gas temperatures are all within tolerance. Our aim is for maximum power whilst maintaining optimum reliability.

Our Stage 1 ECU remap is developed to safely improve your vehicle's power and torque whilst maintaining standard components and remaining within tolerances. <br/><br/> It's the perfect balance of increased power and day-to-day usability, which is ideal for those who want extra performance but not at the cost of additional hardware or reliability.

Where applicable we are able to switch off the software functionality and monitoring for the Exhaust Gas Recirculation valve enabling it to be blanked off. For more information please refer to our section on EGR Removal.Where applicable we are able to raise the RPM limiter enabling a wider RPM band for performance. This is available on both petrol and diesel engines.Where applicable we are able to switch off the software functionality and monitoring for the Diesel Particulate Filter enabling it to be removed from the vehicle. "The re-map can be carried out wherever your car is situated; mine was carried out over the Christmas break at my house so it is very convenient. The whole process takes about 1.5 hours, a preliminary test run takes place followed by a trial run after the re-mapping.

The difference in power is noticeable immediately, although as Celtic tell you, the full effects take up to 48 hours to become apparent. Not only has the power difference increased but the car is much smoother and appears more refined, gear changing has also been reduced. Can't verify the improvement in fuel economy yet as I've been having too much fun!!!"

After a couple of weeks driving the vehicle is far more flexible to drive, with obviously improved acceleration, but without any noticeable loss in fuel consumption.

The main reason for the tuning was to improve the power output when towing our single horsebox. After two week-ends, each of 400+ mile motoring to venues down country, there is ample power to tow at the legal limit when on the flat, with a tendency to easily exceed this at times, and the journey over the A66 to Scotch Corner is achieved with seemingly less strain on the engine, providing a more relaxed ride.

Many thanks to all at Celtic Tuning for a great job. I will have no hesitation in recommending you to others who may require the same service.
