ADDITIONAL OPTIONS

Where applicable we are able to raise the RPM limiter enabling a wider RPM band for performance. This is available on both petrol and diesel engines.Where applicable we are able to raise/lower or completely remove the maximum speed limiter from a vehicle.Where applicable we are able to switch off the software functionality and monitoring for the swirl flaps, enabling them to be removed from the vehicle and save costly repair bills.Where applicable we are able to switch off the software functionality and monitoring for the secondary oxygen (O₂) sensor, allowing for the removal of the catalytic converter without triggering diagnostic trouble codes or warning lights.

I had my Audi RS4 B8 upgraded at the beginning of July just to see whether a few more horses could be squeezed out of the 4.2l V8. I'd used Celtic Tuning twice before on turbo diesels and was very pleased with the improvement and service so getting a remap on a NA petrol V8 was new to me.

Booking the car in was easy and it was a lovely day for a drive to Newquay even down the infamous A303.

I run my car on Esso Supreme 97 RON so I was interested to see whether this would make any difference to the stock 443 BHP as quoted by Audi, who recommend 98 RON by the way. To my pleasant surprise the dyno showed 463BHP before and 493 after which is quite a hike on the quoted 443. Celtic quoted a possible 27 BHP increase and I got 30 BHP so no complaints there.

Do I notice any difference ? Not really from 0 MPH, maybe a slight increase mid-range but the engine delivers the power smoother especially from low down the rev range. I have noticed a 1 ( yes one ) MPG improvement over the 700 miles since the upgrade, nothing spectacular considering it's a V8 but that means I get my money back in saved fuel in a little under two years.

The upgrade did upset the fuel gauge as it showed no fuel so either the boys had drained my tank dry or the ECU had a hiccup. A quick inspection by the team restored the fuel gauge back to full working order. Apart from that minor problem there have been no problems since.

I'd definitely recommend Celtic Tuning to anyone considering a remap.
