WHAT IS
SID212
The Continental SID212 and its revised version SID212 EVO is an Engine Control Unit fitted to the Ford 2.0 EcoBlue & 2.0 TDCi diesel engines that was introduced around 2015.
The ECU was introduced to the market with such a high standard of write protection that it has remained protected from tuning until very recently. The level of encryption was compared to that of bank grade security to give you a perspective.
The first solution resulted in a a postal unlock service from hardware manufacturers to try and protect what they had discovered from competitors.
